Step by Step Tutorial on How to make a Paper Plate Snowman
Step 1: Assemble the Snowman's Body
Lay out the three paper plates to form the snowman shape, with the largest plate at the bottom, the medium one in the middle, and the smallest on top as the head. You can also use paper plates that are all the same size if that's all you have.
Glue or tape the plates together to create the snowman base. If you are using glue, be sure to give the paper plates plenty of time to try before moving on to the next step.
Step 2: Create the Face
To create the eyes, cut out two small circles from black construction paper and glue them towards the top of the smallest paper plate.
Cut out a carrot-shaped nose from orange construction paper and glue it right under the eyes.
Add a cheerful smile with markers or crayons
Optionally, if you don't want to use construction paper to cut out the face shapes, you can draw the entire face with markers.
Step 3: Create the Snowman's Accessories
Cut out a top hat shape from black construction paper and glue it onto your snowman's head. If you have difficulty creating this shape, an easy tip is to cut a square and then a longer rectangle. Attach the rectangle to the bottom of the square, and you have a top hat.
Cut out a rectangle shape from the construction paper to create the scarf. Alternatively, if you have any yarn or fabric, you can use that for the scarf instead.
Cut out three small circles from your black construction paper to use as buttons and glue them down the middle of the snowman.
Step 4: Personalize the Snowman
Add extra decorations to personalize your snowman, like mittens made from construction paper, or use pipe cleaners to create stick arms, you can even make your snowman sparkle by covering it in glitter
Ways to Make It Unique
There are so many fun and exciting ways you can make your paper plate snowman even more unique. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Add Fun Textures: Use cotton balls or white pom poms to give your snowman some fun texture and make it look extra fuzzy.
Winter Scene: Attach the snowman to a large piece of blue or black butcher paper and create a whole winter scene with a snowy background, trees, or even a paper igloo.
Name Your Snowman: Let kids name their snowman and create a little story about it to make the craft even more engaging. Alternatively, you can have your kids work on this craft while they are watching Frosty the Snowman and start a whole new family tradition.
Make a Whole Family of Snowman: Have the whole family craft together and create their very own snowman. By the time you're done, everyone in the family will have a paper plate snowman friend.
